Local couple set sail... from Humberside Airport
One local couple became the first passengers ever to set sail from Humberside Airport. Janet and Roy Hewson of Holten-le-Clay were first in line to check in for a direct flight to join an Island Cruises holiday in Palma, a first for the region’s airport.
Amanda George, Aviation Development Manager, Regional Airports, presented the couple with a complimentary bottle of champagne to help them start their cruise in style.
The couple were about to embark on a cruise and stay holiday, which includes a stay in Palma Nova, Majorca and is one of many holiday options available with Island Cruises from Humberside Airport. They will be joining up with the Island Escape, one of Island Cruises’ luxurious ships to cruise the Mediterranean, stopping off in France, Spain and Italy.
Island Cruises, who have a wealth of experience in the cruise industry in the form of partners Royal Caribbean, will be bringing their newly refurbished ship the Island Star into service for the Summer 2006 season, which can also be enjoyed with direct flights from Humberside Airport. Passengers can enjoy a week’s Mediterranean cruise and combine this with a week in Majorca, with a choice of 23 properties, ranging from self-catering to all inclusive.
Passengers from Humberside will be able to experience the delights of a wide range of exciting destinations including Dubrovnik, Venice, Istanbul, Marseille, Messina and Split in Croatia.
Amanda commented: “I was delighted to welcome Mr and Mrs Hewson to Humberside Airport as the first passengers to travel direct from the airport to enjoy an Island Cruises experience.
“Passengers have commented on how easy it is to book a cruise holiday direct from Humberside Airport, which allows them to take in many rich and varied cultures all in one holiday. Flights, transfers, the cruise itself and the option of a week in Majorca can all be booked in one easy step, so taking that dream cruise could not be simpler. The flights are proving to be extremely popular both with cruise trip enthusiasts and people who have never cruised before and we look forward to saying Bon Voyage to many more passengers leaving Humberside Airport for an Island Cruises adventure.”
