Information about Humberside Airport’s response to the Coronavirus (COVID19) updated 14th January 2022. All passengers and visitors are reminded that it is once again a legal requirement to wear face-covering in all areas of the terminal building. Humberside Airport remains open for flights and we have followed Government advice on putting measure in place to ensure the continued safety of our customers as well as airport staff. These measures are detailed in our ‘Restart & Recovery 10-Point Plan’ which also includes guidance for passengers on what to expect and how to prepare for travel through the airport. We would ask that you follow the guidance within the Plan. Passengers should continue to contact their airline for any information on flights. Please note the Airport Operating hours are as follows: Monday-Wednesday 07:30–18:30, Thursday & Friday 07:45-18:30, Saturday 08:00–13:00 & 14:00-17:00, Sunday 08:00–13:00 & 14:30-17:30.

Job Vacancy - Firefighter



Reporting to the Senior Airport Fire Officer (SAFO) the main duties are:

  • To save and preserve endangered life at incidents.
  • Extinguish fire at aircraft incidents.
  • Maintain operational readiness and resources.
  • Prevent the occurrence of emergencies through management of aerodrome hazards and risks.
  • Implement action to resolve operational incidents.
  • Contain and control spillage or release of hazardous materials.
  • Take responsibility for effective performance.
  • Maintain activities to meet requirements.
  • Investigate and Report on events to inform future practice.
  • To maintain all relevant skills in accordance with the aerodrome maintenance of competence scheme.
  • To carry out any extraneous duties as detailed by the SAFO.
  • To comply with all relevant Health and Safety instructions as per aerodrome policies.

Essential skills required:

  • Be flexible and adaptable. (this position will involve shift work including weekends and also additional hours at short notice)
  • Be open to change.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Be physically fit.
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable skills required:

  • Possess a Health and Safety qualification.
  • Firefighting experience.
  • Possess a current LGV Category C or C+E licence.

This is a full-time position based on a shift pattern which covers weekend work and Bank Holidays, based on a rotating shift roster.

Salary for the role is subject to qualifications and experience.
